At the beginning of school year I can not give a reflection.

The Italian school at the center of criticism, has, perhaps we should say presented, points of excellence. For example, we talk about inclusive education , the Italian state school was the pioneer of inclusion. In classes, after a short and painful interlude of special classes, students with disabilities are included and protected. This far from thinking to a flattening of the curriculum, if anything, there was a great achievement: to give equity in complexity.

Globalization has made the classes more and more complex, so the students: normal, talented, gifted, disabled, with learning disabilities, with specific deficits learning and different social classes, joined the foreign students.

But diversity is a treasure not flatten the class, if anything, makes you stronger.

So what's the problem?
Every year, also well documented for many years, acquired rights of disabled people are being slowly undermined in the name of the financial cuts; seems that Italy is going to hell because you spent too much in education and culture . Slowly, with the cuts, an attempt to firmly establish a common opinion that the old concept appratiene our democratic history: the richness of the complexity of the class would be a utopia, the class should be "made by people who want to study," young people in trouble would only vagrants, I am convinced that this is the dominant philosophy today.

Objective data in hand?

Here they are. In my Institute, there are 19 students with severe disabilities to severe average, all certified by the Law 104. The total weekly support hours are allocated 126, so the maximum hours per week for each pupil is 6.5, equal to about one hour a day support. In a class there are also more than a disabled student and that does not give the right to lower the number of students in the class.
But the students have been disabled people in Italy and reduce the public school in these difficult conditions?
